| Description | Best-selling author Daniel James Brown will talk with Densho’s Executive Director Tom Ikeda and Michael Shiosaki about Brown’s latest book, “Facing the Mountain: An Inspiring Story of Japanese American Patriots in World War II.”
It is presented in partnership with Elliott Bay Book Company and Densho. Books will be available for sale at Central Library on the evening of the event, and signed copies may be available from Elliott Bay Book Company after the program.

About the Speakers: Daniel James Brown is the author of The Indifferent Stars Above and Under a Flaming Sky, which was a finalist for the B&N Discover Great New Writers Award, as well as The Boys in the Boat, a New York Times bestselling book that was awarded the ALA’s Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction. He has taught writing at San José State University and Stanford University. He lives outside Seattle.
Tom Ikeda is the executive director of Densho, a Seattle-based non-profit dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing Japanese American history and promoting social justice and equity.
