SummaryDiscover the overlooked people, places, and things that define the city’s neighborhoods with the comic artist behind the beloved Instagram “Seattle Walk Report.”
DescriptionThrough distinctive and charming black-and-white comics, Seattle Walk Report has been secretly documenting on Instagram the quirky characters, sidewalk finds, and curious detritus she encounters on her walks. Now, with a book-length “report,” readers and walkers can follow along using the hand-drawn maps, or use the book to inspire their own meandering adventures.

The artist behind Seattle Walk Report, whose identity will be revealed on August 13, is a self-taught cartoonist, illustrator, and designer. After discovering a love for exploring Seattle by foot, she anonymously started the Instagram comic series Seattle Walk Report in 2017. With her keen eye for Seattle's overlooked landmarks and everyday ephemera, she captures everything that makes the Emerald City magical. Her work has appeared in Seattle magazine, the Stranger, Seattle Refined, The Evergrey, and the Seattle Review of Books, as well as on KOMO News and 107.7 The End.

After presenting a slideshow that highlights her process and memorable walks, Seattle Walk Report will be joined onstage by Paul Constant for a short interview followed by Q&A. Constant is a co-founder of the Seattle Review of Books, and his comic book series “Planet of the Nerds” is now on sale in comics shops everywhere.
