SummaryBallard Library returns to Conor Byrne Pub in Ballard for the ALT Poetry Reading w/ Open Mic, featuring A Gallo-Brown, L Swartz, and T Clear.
DescriptionJoin us on Wednesday, November 7 from 8 – 10 p.m. at the Conor Byrne Pub in Ballard for a reading we’re calling ALT, after the initials of our showcased poets, A Gallo-Brown, L Swartz and T Clear; read more about our poets below. In addition to the reading, there will be a handful of open mic slots for further surprise and delight: if interested, bring up to three minutes of poetry to share that you’ve read aloud and timed. We’ll begin with poetry, and then commence to socializing and a door prize or two.

A Gallo-Brown is poet, prose writer, and workers' rights advocate from Seattle. He is the author of the poetry collection The Language of Grief (2012) and the forthcoming collection of stories and poems Variations of Labor from local Chin Music Press.

L Swartz is undergoing a messy breakup with Seattle, who has changed in ways L just can't accept. On the plus side, L is creating a nest for artists on the Oregon coast; please do come and stay. L's chapbook, Land of Lists was published by Floating Bridge Press. L's deck of Shufflepoems was published by Minor Arcana Press.

T Clear draws inspiration from a life lived in the shadows of the Cascade Mountains, as well as the humor and absurdities she encounters daily.

This program is a part of Booktoberfest, our annual celebration of books, beer and good cheer taking place in bars and pubs across the Seattle. Join us for bookish happy hours, librarian-hosted trivia nights, spooky stories in bars and libraries, a Northwest literary survival kit, karaoke, vampire movies and more!

Be on the lookout for our Booktoberfest Drink Coasters at all events, and at bars all across the city. This year’s coasters include a place to share what you’ve been reading with your fellow barmates, and via social media.
NotesThis event is 21 and over. Registration is not required. This event is free, although drinks and food are not.
