SummaryTiffany Liao, editor at Henry Holt Books for Young Readers, discusses “Mirrors, Windows and Doors: Writing and Thinking Cross Culturally.” Presented by SCBWI Western Washington.
DescriptionIf you’re supposed to “write what you know,” how can you create convincingly and respectfully from a perspective outside of your own? Tiffany Liao, editor at Henry Holt Books for Young Readers, offers insights and craft-based advice from her experience editing and reading cross-culturally.

This presentation is offered free in partnership with the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators of Western Washington. The program includes SCBWI WWA’s monthly meeting and is a great opportunity to meet local writers, illustrators and book professionals. Find out more about SCBWI WWA and get updates on their Chinook Blog.

Editor Tiffany Liao has worked with Tomi Adeyemi, K.D. Halbrook, Kristin Tubb, Lesley Livingston, Simon Van Booy, Henry Lien, and many other authors. Before joining Henry Holt, she was an associate editor at Razorbill, an imprint of Penguin Random House.
