SummaryJoin us to hear Elise Hooper read from her first novel, "The Other Alcott," based on the life of May Alcott, youngest sister of Louisa May Alcott.
DescriptionMarking the 150th anniversary of the publication of "Little Women," Elise Hooper has imagined the life of artist May Alcott. May Alcott studied art in Boston and Europe, and in 1877, the Paris Salon accepted one of her still life pieces.
"Her adventures illuminate the world of intrepid female artists in the late 1800s, a milieu too little appreciated today." (New York Times).
This program is part of the Words, Writers and West Seattle author series organized by the Southwest Historical Society, which features writers connected to the Duwamish Peninsula.
Programs are held monthly on the second Thursday evenings.
Books will be available for purchase.
Presented in partnership with the Southwest Historical Society.
