SummaryJoin us for a guided tour and discussion of the traveling international exhibition Futurama Redux: Urban Mobility After Cars and Oil.
DescriptionThe Seattle Public Library, Coltura, and Smarter Than Car present the first U.S. showing of an international traveling exhibition on the future of transport that has been exhibited in Vienna, Hong Kong, and other cities. Futurama Redux was inspired by the Futurama exhibition at the 1939 World’s Fair, which predicted (and celebrated) our auto, highway, and gasoline-dominated present. Futurama Redux imagines how we undo the 1939 Futurama paradigm (which we still live within) to achieve efficient and clean urban mobility by the Year 2050. Futurama Redux opens a space for discussion regarding how we in the Pacific Northwest might work backwards from a desired 2050 future to guide transportation and land use changes we make over the coming years.
