SummaryLearn how to write a sparkling query letter and get an agent’s attention, with novelist and nonfiction author Martha Brockenbrough.
DescriptionKnowing how to talk about your work and make it compelling is vital when you’re submitting to agents and publishers. Learn what to do—and what to avoid—when querying. We’ll spend time talking specifically about query letters and writing a synopsis for your novel.

Martha Brockenbrough is the author of the young adult biography "Alexander Hamilton, Revolutionary," the novel "The Game of Love and Death" (winner of the Washington State Book Award and the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Award), and many other books for children and adults.
She is on the faculty of the Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in Writing program.
Class NotesLibrary events and programs are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required for this writing class, but seating is limited. Seating will be on a first come, first seated basis. Doors to the meeting room will open 30 minutes prior to the start of the class. We’ll try our best to accommodate all interested writers, but students may be turned away if the room is filled to capacity. Due to the fire code, we cannot exceed the maximum capacity for our rooms.

Please bring a pen/pencil and paper or fully-charged laptop to each class.

Seattle Writes supports local writers through programs, workshops, write-ins, and by providing spaces to work throughout the city.

The Seattle Writes series is made possible with the generous support of The Seattle Public Library Foundation. Find more Seattle Writes programs and resources here.
